POSTCARD MADNESS

Another altered postcard. Took down my show and ended up selling one final piece which was awesome and now I can exhale for a couple of weeks then I am in a group show of altered pieces.

ALTERED POSTCARDS

Today I pick up two pieces in an Evergreen gallery and then jet down town to take down our big show and clean the gallery. Here are four more postcards. I'm getting back into the swing of things I think. I'm busily painting the upstairs, photos on that little project later.

NEW POSTCARDS

Joined a group to do altered postcards with an image already stamped on it, so far has this has been very fun. Haven't done straight collage in a while and wow what a great exercise! What a fabulous way to jolt the creative juices. Here are the first three of twenty. Ps these are then mailed back to the original stamper.

THE BACK ROOM...SALON GROUP

When I got the opportunity to move to the front gallery I had to find a group to show in the back gallery. I belong to a salon group which are for the most part emerging artists. You can see the diversity of talent the group has some are very experienced others are not as far along. That said all together they made a very interesting show. Tonight we have a smaller opening two galleries on either side are having openings so if we want to attract people to our gallery and stay for a while we need some food and drink!

This Friday we have spirits and food again and there is another opening right next door, VRBA  is a well established painter in Denver.

The hours are Friday nights 6-10, Sat & Sun 12:00-5:00. Here is the aftermath of our opening you can see the food table is decimated!! Can you believe I fit all this in my my SUV! We had a good opening I sold 3 pieces for sure and one I believe another is sold the guy really liked it, we have the rest of this weekend and two more weekends so wish me luck! Today I have to gallery sit and clean up our mess.....yuk.

SETTING UP A GALLERY SHOW

Well, today, is the day that I decided to hang my show that gives me a couple of days to think about how things are set up tweak if I need to because this show has a bit of a twist because I'm responsible for the whole gallery instead of the smaller gallery in the back. First you choose what's potentially going in always take a few extra pieces if they are available then you have some to interchange just in case. So first task is to gather all the pieces, put together your tools, for instance, scissors, paper for notes, nails, hammer, tape repair material, what ever you may need, etc. Right before a show my house is full of piles of stuff to pack into my SUV. I always wonder if it will fit, sometimes you have to be creative in packing and it's a given you always forget something!!
