Working on my piggy assemblage, this one is fun, it's changing as it goes which is par for the course! I have this batch, herd, gaggle, school, or
what ever you call it, of tiny pink pigs. I've been waiting to use them on something, they are very detailed for being so small and have a high curiosity value as well. The glue should clean up just fine.
Here are a couple of new critters who will occupy a couple of new assemblage boxes I'm working on and hoping to finish BEFORE my hand surgery on Monday, my schedule is quite full lately, so I'm not as confident as I was.....!!!!
Another assemblage called a small offering. This one is going into the Arvada Center Art show and sale.
This is my latest piece getting ready for the Arvada show and sale, you always need a few interesting but more mainstream pieces that are sure to sell. By that I mean since my work tends to tippy toe on the dark side I like to have some pieces that maybe are different but still safely on the side of not too controversial and they don't give you the creeps, which some of my work does. People love birds and so do I, later you will see a piece that has a very cute but unfortunately dead bird, it is not at all gross, mostly because I'm not Damien Hirst, it's for later.
I am always collecting interesting pictures here's one I think is so 50's! I just absolutely love the retro look and this one looked like it was straight out of Flash Gordan!
I'm always sad to see summer go, it seems so brief and fleeting....sigh. Actually I get a lot of art done in the winter and this year I am full of what seems like really great ideas!! The nice thing is that I can exhaust a number of avenues during this 6 month time period, my work usually focuses on viewing a subject from many different ways. I will start after my hand surgery and I can hardly wait. In the meantime I have a show at Front Range Community College which is located at 3645 W 112 Ave Westminister, called the Anything But Paint show. If you're in the area come and see my work along with other talented artists. Also in the next few weeks I will be doing Goth swap postcards which I will post and a few cutesy items for my wall at the Arvada Holiday show and sale. Time is running out so I will be busy working and posting my creations!! Meanwhile here is my back yard wall, we live in a cut out in the mountain so a chain link fence covers the wall to keep rocks from falling on to the house and the tiny yard and these fabulous vines cover it!! The deer like them too they stand above the yard a munch on the vines and the berries which the birds eat too.
We had a great class, much good stuff was produced from newbies in assemblage. Very interesting how people take a subject and run with it, this class I thought was
particularly good. It was the last day of classes and most people are exhausted. Our class was able to almost completely finish their projects. If any of you who were in that class happen to see this, I would love for you to send me more pictures. I think most of these speak for them selves....please excuse my photo's I didn't do a great job here. FYI had the class leave the roofs unattached so they could travel better. If you look closely several have peep holes with images behind them. The first peep hole is the wooden zebra behind mica in the first assemblage, this lady joined the class after she got to A&S what a good job she did. In the second one she did a real good job of creating energy throughout the piece. The third one down has a peep hole made out of mica with another dog image behind, didn't she do a great job on her patinas. The fourth one is all about lights and so is the artist, her's took for ever to glue BUT it came together in the last 1/2 hour very nicely. Next was another peep hole of Snooks (I hope that's right) the chimp, I like this one because even though she has used a lot of images it pulls together nicely, she had my favorite thingy the tiger on a ball! The next elephant one was nice because of it's simplicity. Last but not least a very interesting take on the subject and a good job using paint to pull it together. Somehow I missed taking a picture of a couple of others, one was a real fun item she had old clown cake decorations which she put lights into their heads I had really hope to get a picture of this one. Elephants were a popular item, they are in almost all of them.
A few snaps of vendor night as A&S I probably should have taken more but I was busy! You might recognize Juliana Coles who was parked next to me. First one was during set up, second one was during the vendor's the other vendors shopping a little later and the last one is the beginning of the evening. Daniel Essig is in the last picture, the tall thin guy.
Finished with this batch, next up is my Goth swap...that could be interesting!
Here are two more and just two more to go....!!!! Off to Art & Soul Saturday coming back on Tuesday so probably just one more post until then. I have another group show coming up right after I get back so I will be getting ready for that one as soon as my feet hit the ground!!
