MY DOG ZOE-E

I was just thinking that given her history we should have put more dashes and e's behind her name, as in Zoe-e-e-e-e-e.!!! This dog is simply amazing. Lately she has had a few health problems relating to her liver, the thinking was that the bulk of them came from constant infections from her TPLO plate. After that surgery she got a bone infection and about every three months she got an infection in that leg, long story short her liver was doing well enough that the vet took out the plate about 3 weeks ago. Well-l-l-l-l after about a week she removed the lower half of her staples....gross. This is what we tried

Took her in and they fixed her leg up now she had about twice the staples and a wrap not three days later she had taken  all the staples out and had a gaping wound...once again, gross, that was all last week. This is what we tried.

Took her in and three of us laid on her while they gave her a local and stitched her up again. That was kinda strange. Three days later, Wednesday, she had taken out her stitches WITH a cone on. Back we go and a repeat of last time. This is the cone.

This time I wrapped her up and although she can scratch her itches she can't actually remove any staples or stitches, so far, but she is clever.......more later. I'm hoping this will work because I so want closure on this leg.

 

Well we now have the cone and the wrap on....stay tuned.

A NEW CURIO BOX

I made this curio box, which I don't usually approach this way, after going to an estate sale full of curio boxes and I bought lots and lots of teeny weeny thingys. Here is curio box number one. This one is a classic curio box, which as I said I don't usually do but I just felt like trying something new.

 

BEAR AND THE BIKE

The bear and his bike along with another friend. This one is coming along have a few contrast problems. If you are wondering how to check contrast easily just take a picture of your piece and put it on your computer in your photo editing program and change it to black and white and it becomes very clear where the problems lie.

ODDITIES AT PIRATE GALLERY

Here is my show at Pirate, the opening was Friday night, had a great time, if you haven't seen it yet swing by sometime in the next two weekends and say hi!! I will be there Friday 7-9 night both weekends and Sat 12-5 this weekend, and the following weekend Friday 6-10 an and Sat 12-5. The gallery is located at 3655 Navajo St in the Highlands neighbor.

If you are around Denver for the next few weekends swing by Pirate art gallery at 3655 Navajo St in the Highlands neighborhood and say hi! Gallery hours are Fridays 6-10, Sat. & Sun. 12-5. This show features both my paintings and assemblages, great stuff for Christmas. I also have some new paintings at the holiday sale at Foothills Art Center in Golden if you're out that way. There are some really great things made by Colorado Artisans, so support your local artists this year for Christmas. In addition I will have some more paintings and assemblage at the Arvada Center for the Arts in their holiday sale, which is in December. A new gallery in the art district on Santa Fe will feature more of my paintings and assemblage in December as well. The name is Sizzle & Bang right next door to Space Gallery more details later on that show but I can tell you it will be a great show which also features Mark Pentor-Howell.

BEAR ON A BIKE

Finally got my computer squared around, more or less, so I can finally start working again....geez! Here is the Bear on a Bike painting, the first few steps are finished and I'm getting ready to add objects in the background, which I'm still thinking about and preparing to paint and draw over the whole thing. I would consider this next step fairly early in the process.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS: BACK UP YOUR INFORMATION

Sometimes things happen. I had been having trouble with my computer for some time, it is a fairly new Mac. So what could be wrong, they don't get a virus but once in a blue moon, they are reliable, easy to use, who would even think hard drive.........well it was the hard drive and it crashed and burned....all my info gone. All my passwords, all my calendar events all my art show dead lines, all my show stuff, all my addresses, all my bookmarks, EVERYTHING. Advise, back up your info, all of it, everything.I have a show at the end of the week and haven't been able to do anything to advertise because no access to my info at all, my templates....gone.Talk about a teachable moment, just had a big one. Don't be stupid take care of your info.

WOLF

This is a re-do, in fact it hasn't been shown anywhere yet. It's always bothered me a little so I finally sanded off the top coat of sealer and added another layer, then resealed it. It's better but not where I'd like it to be......sigh.

PREDATORY BEHAVIOR

Predatory behavior is mostly done, probably tweak it a bit but he looks finished more or less right now. The really great thing about assemblage is that you can keep going on them by adding a little something here and there maybe a little more color here and there....!

RABBIT NIGHTLIGHT

Finally got this one finished, he's got a light installed in his film can. I had to paint the interior white for added reflection and add some stiff mat board strips on the inside painted white close to the light source to concentrate the light to the area I wanted it to shine the brightest.
