Breaking Boundaries: The Business of Art
The Center for the Arts Evergreen introduces a new "multi-lecture/hands-on" workshop series that will introduce artists at any level of their careers to the considerations and responsibilities of being a professional artist. This series, geared specifically toward the visual artist, meets once a month. The six sessions in this series will allow you the opportunity to meet with and hear from noted key resource professionals in the art world. A wide variety of topics will be discussed such as marketing, web design, bookkeeping etc., in order to provide you with a well-rounded wealth of information so that you can better navigate the business world of art. All sessions will be held on Saturday mornings, one each in April, May and June, and September, October and November. Sessions will be from 10am until 2:00pm and will include a light lunch and ample networking time. Study guides and support materials will be provided. The cost of the individual session is $30 CAE members ($35 non-members), or enroll in the entire series of six lecture sessions for $150 ($160). Center for the Arts Evergreen is located in Buchanan Park, directly off of state Hwy 74, just 6 minutes from Hwy I-70 exit 252 (and less than 30 minutes from downtown Denver).
The programs have been designed and will be facilitated by Kathy Beekman, noted professional pastel painter, author, arts career coach and career workshop leader and Steve Sumner MFA, Executive Director of the Center for the Arts Evergreen, printmaker, arts administrator and former college President of Rocky Mountain College of Art+Design .
